Member of the Croatian athletics team, Croatian record holder, world junior champion and Olympic Gold Medalist
Jana Koščak has been involved in athletics for 12 years and has won numerous medals. Her best discipline is the combined heptathlon and pentathlon events in which she currently holds the world record in her category. 2024 saw her win heptathlon gold at the World Junior Championships, thus giving Croatia its first gold following a 15- year long wait. This medal has special significance as it is the first all-around medal for Croatia in Olympic history. Following her success at the World Championships, Jana was conferred the “Dražen Petrović” award, which recognizes the greatest hope of Croatian sport. She was born, raised and has trained her entire life in Varaždin. She has always been a proud Croatian woman and wants to continue developing her career in Croatia. She is bolstered by the ever-present support of the women she surrounds herself with, especially her mother, grandmother and sister, who have been by her side and believed in Jana’s potential since she was a child. Guided by their example, Jana wants to encourage younger girls to follow their passion, whether in sport, like her or in any other field.

Jana Koščak je atletičarka koja se bavi atletikom se 12 godina i osvajačica je brojnih medalja. Njezina najbolja disciplina je višeboj (sedmoboj i petoboj) u kojima trenutno drži svjetski rekord u svojoj kategoriji. 2024. godine osvojila je zlato u spomenutoj disciplini na Svjetskom juniorskom prvenstvu, čime je osvojila prvo zlato za Lijepu Našu nakon dugih 15 godina. Ova medalja ima posebni značaj, jer je to prva hrvatska višebojska medalja u povijesti. Nakon uspjeha na Svjetskom prvenstvu proglašena je dobitnicom nagrade „Dražen Petrović“, odnosno najvećom nadom hrvatskog sporta. Rođena je, odgajana i trenira cijeli svoj život u Varaždinu. Oduvijek je bila ponosna Hrvatica i želi nastaviti razvijati svoju karijeru u Hrvatskoj. Konstantno ju podržavaju žene okolo nje, pogotovo njezina majka, baka i sestra, koje su bile uz nju i vjerovale u Janin potencijal od malih nogu. Vođena njihovim primjerom, Jana želi potaknuti mlađe djevojke da slijede svoju strast, bilo da je pronalaze u sportu poput nje, ili u bilo kojem drugom polju.

Jana Koščak es una atleta lleva 12 años practicando atletismo y ha ganado numerosas medallas. Su disciplina favorita son las pruebas combinadas (heptatlón y pentatlón), en las que actualmente ostenta el récord mundial en su categoría. Este año (2024) ganó el oro en heptatlón en el Campeonato Mundial Júnior, consiguiendo así el primer oro para nuestro hermoso país después de 15 largos años. Esta medalla tiene un significado especial, porque es la primera medalla croata en la historia en el concurso completo. Tras su éxito en el Campeonato Mundial, fue declarada ganadora del premio “Dražen Petrović”, es decir, la mayor esperanza del deporte croata. Nació, creció y se entrenó toda su vida en Varaždin. Siempre ha sido una mujer croata orgullosa y quiere seguir desarrollando su carrera aquí, en Croacia. Jana recibe el apoyo constante de las mujeres que la rodean, especialmente de su madre, abuela y hermana, que han estado a su lado y creyeron en el potencial de Jana desde que era una niña. Guiada por su ejemplo, Jana quiere alentar a las niñas más jóvenes a seguir su pasión, ya sea en un deporte como el suyo o en cualquier otro ámbito.
