Dr. Suzana Tkalčić, DVM, PHD

Dr. Tkalcic is the first Croatian female veterinarian with a PhD and pathology residency in the USA. Her scientific expertise includes comparative pathology, international veterinary medicine, food safety, ocean health, One Health, and marine mammal pathology. She collaborates scientifically with many institutions in Croatia and abroad and is a member of MAR3INE, IAAAM, AMEE, ACS, and medical advisor for the Los Angeles Zoo. She has authored many scientific publications, grants, and participated in 40+scientific meetings and international conferences. She holds Dr. Jurak Award for Comparative Pathology by the Croatian Medical Academy, had initiated “Suzana Tkalcic One Health Award” and in 2016 was inducted into the Croatian Academy of Medical Sciences. She is secretary and Culture Director of the Croatian Cultural Center of Greater Los Angeles, San Pedro, CA (www.croatiala.org); writes poetry (HIL), sings and directs Croatian Vocal Ensemble “IZVOR” and teaches “Scola Croatica” – Croatian children school. She has been recognized for her work by the USA President, Congress, California Senate and City of Los Angeles.
