Ksenija Uroić has a background in biotechnology. She was born in Varaždin, where she continues to live and work. She is employed at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, in the Laboratory for Antibiotic, Enzyme, Probiotic and Starter Cultures Technology under the mentorship of Prof. Jagoda Šušković.

Her scientific research focuses on “beneficial” probiotic bacteria, which, despite being extensively studied for years, still hold many unexplored aspects. Research into the probiotic benefits of lactic acid bacteria remains highly relevant, particularly regarding their application in the accelerated and more efficient development of novel biotherapeutic products, dietary probiotic supplements, and functional products enriched with probiotics.

She has received numerous scholarships and awards in recognition of her work. Her husband and three-year-old daughter serve as a constant source of inspiration and motivation in her life.

Ksenija Uroić dolazi iz područja biotehnologije. Rođena je u Varaždinu, gdje i danas živi i radi. Zaposlena je na Prehrambeno-biotehnološkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Zagrebu u Laboratoriju za tehnologiju antibiotika, enzima, probiotika i starter kultura pod mentorstvom prof. dr. sc. Jagode Šušković.

Njezin znanstveni rad usmjeren je na „dobre“ probiotičke bakterije koje, unatoč dugogodišnjem intenzivnom istraživanju, još uvijek nisu u potpunosti razotkrile sve svoje potencijale. Istraživanja probiotičkih učinaka bakterija mliječne kiseline iznimno su aktualna, osobito u kontekstu njihove primjene u bržem i učinkovitijem razvoju novih bioterapijskih proizvoda, dijetetskih probiotičkih pripravaka te različitih funkcionalnih proizvoda obogaćenih probioticima.

Dobitnica je brojnih stipendija i nagrada za svoj znanstveni rad. Suprug i trogodišnja kći predstavljaju joj neprocjenjiv izvor motivacije i podrške.

Trabaja en la Food & Biotechnical Faculty de la University of Zagreb, en el Laboratorio de Tecnología de Antibióticos, Enzimas, Probióticos y Cultivos Iniciadores, bajo la supervisión de la Prof. Jagoda Šušković.

Su investigación científica se centra en las bacterias probióticas “beneficiosas”, que, a pesar de haber sido ampliamente estudiadas durante años, aún no han revelado todos sus secretos. El estudio de los beneficios probióticos de las bacterias ácido-lácticas es especialmente relevante en el contexto del desarrollo más rápido y eficiente de nuevos productos bioterapéuticos, suplementos probióticos y diversos productos funcionales enriquecidos con probióticos.

Ha recibido numerosas becas y reconocimientos por su labor científica. Su esposo y su hija de tres años representan una fuente constante de motivación en su vida.
