Ksenija Uroić comes from a biotechnology background. She was born in Varaždin, where she still lives. She works at the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb, in the Laboratory for Antibiotic, Enzyme, Probiotic and Starter Cultures Technology under Prof. Jagoda Šušković. Her scientific work deals with “good“ probiotic bacteria which, although intensively studied for many years, have not yet revealed all their secrets. The research on probiotic benefits of lactic acid bacteria is extremely topical, particularly in terms of their applicability in faster and more efficient development of new bio-therapeutic products, dietary probiotic products and various functional products containing added probiotics. She has won numerous scholarships and awards for her work. Her husband and a three-year old daughter have been an invaluable motivation in her life.
